Corvettes for Sale: 1971 Corvette Convertible Was a Former Wedding Present

This classic 1971 Corvette seems to thrive on festive occasions.

For example, about 15 years ago, newlyweds received this Stingray convertible as a wedding present. They drove it a few times but it wound up spending most of the time in storage.

Not surprisingly, they wound up selling it a couple of years ago to the current owner, who planned to restore it but instead bought a house in Florida and has no time for such projects.

Therefore, on Christmas Day 2021, someone else will become the new owner after a no-reserve auction on eBay comes to an end on Saturday.

So far, 43 bids have climbed to $19,200.

On the bright side, this Stingray still has its original 350 engine hooked to a four-speed manual transmission. The owner says it “ran excellent” when he parked it in the garage two years ago, but it will need a new battery after sitting so long. About half of the 21,801 Corvettes built that year came with air conditioning, and fortunately this is one of them.

He says the interior “is all there” and in “pretty good condition.” The frame is described as rust-free, and the body looks “very good with a few cracks here and there.” It’s covered with paint that’s old “but looks good for a driver.” The brakes work, the exhaust looks new, and the tires have “a lot of tread” but definitely need to be replaced due to being 20 years old.

“All in all,” the owner says, his classic ‘Vette is “an excellent car to bring back to its previous glory.” After all, he muses, “where do you find a #’s matching factory air 4spd convertible project these days?”

Corvettes for Sale: 1972 Corvette with 26K Miles

Check out this 1972 chrome bumper Corvette Stingray T-top coupe. It’s a survivor that’s just been brought back to life after being off the road for 10 years.

Now on sale on eBay at the “Buy It Now” price of $24,500, the car has undergone extensive mechanical updates to make it roadworthy again, including all new brakes, calipers/pads/hoses, points, a three-row aluminum radiator and hoses, power steering cylinder and hoses, master cylinder, tires, rally wheel trim rings, center caps, rubber floor mats, and battery.

Now the seller says this California car – back in “good mechanical condition” now – drives, steers, shifts and stops great and is a lot of fun to drive with its matching-numbers 350 engine and four-speed manual transmission.

There is still work to be done, however. For starters, the radio and tachometer are not functioning and the original windshield wiper door grill is missing though a green grill from a parts car is included. The original interior and carpet is said to be in very good condition with separation on a few seams of the bucket seats.

Likewise, while the Ontario Orange paint was resprayed in the ’70s and was recently professionally detailed, the seller admits it still has blemishes, scratches, paint loss, and fading. “It shines up,” he says, “but shows its age.”

Fortunately he describes the body and frame as “very straight, rust-free and solid.”

It all adds up to a vintage Stingray that could be enjoyed as-is or would also be a good candidate for a total restoration, the seller believes.

This 1982 Corvette Collector's Edition Headed to Barrett Jackson Has Up to 1500 Horses Under the Hood

My wife’s favorite Corvette is a 1982 Collector Edition.

With its unique paint job, custom interior, and opening rear hatch to celebrate the last year of the C3s, it’s no wonder she – and other enthusiasts – feel that way.

But many fans are disappointed under the hood with the relatively puny production of the 1982’s cross fire injected 350 V8 engine that pumped out just 200 horsepower.

That problem has been solved in a big way, however, by Barrett-Jacksonthis custom ’82 that will be rolling across the block at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale Auction set for March 20-27.

Underneath the hood is a twin-turbo Dart 350 super high-performance V8 with 4-bolt main and precision machine cast race block backed by a Muncie M22 Rock Crusher 4-speed manual transmission and a 3.55 posi-traction rear end.

As set up now, the engine produces more than 750 horsepower at 15 pounds of boost from the twin-turbo, but it’s adjustable all the way up to a whopping 1,500 horsepower!

The car has covered just 750 miles since the work was completed, and believe it or not, it’s said to have never been raced.

Hopefully, the new owner will change that quickly. After all, it would be a shame to continue neglecting all the performance upgrades that have been made, including a Holley multi-port EFI intelligent direct fuel injection, MSD performance ignition, Steeroids rack & pinion steering, 16-volt battery with SAHN electric controller, and AutoMeter BEX-5000 battery extender, and a stainless-steel TIG-welded custom exhaust system with boost-controlled automatic cutouts for the straight pipes.

Other racing-oriented updates include SharkBite coilovers in the front and rear with front aluminum control arms and rear cantilever system, front sway bar tuned for cornering, rear spreader bar and sway bar tuned for minimum body roll, and SuperShox double adjustable racing shocks all around that are adjustable from the cockpit, not to mention Wilwood hydraulic 6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers with forged Superlite drilled and slotted discs at all four wheels and line lock parking brake. Helping handle all that power structurally is a box-type ladder frame with crossmembers, roll cage, and titanium suspension, and driveline hardware.

Coated in Titanium paint with electric actuated headlights, this Corvette also talks the talk inside with custom-designed two-tone wrapped racing bucket seats with 4-point harnesses, wrapped roll cage, Holley EFI flat-screen gauges with eight adjustable screens, LED lighting, racing-style power windows, and a Race Tech titanium shifter.

Rounding out the look of this custom ‘Vette is a set of 18×10 wheels wrapped win DOT-rated Nitto Competition tires.
