[VIDEO] Here are the Cars that Rick Treworgy of Muscle Car City Museum Decided to Keep

Ever since Rick Treworgy closed his Muscle Car City Museum in Florida and sold some 200 of the vehicles at a special Mecum Auction in January for a whopping $18 million, we’ve wondered which cars he just couldn’t bear to part with.

Thanks to Wade Kawasaki’s Car Guy Adventures on YouTube, we don’t have to wonder anymore.

If you’re an enthusiast, definitely set aside 22 minutes and watch this video that shows Rick’s remaining collection that still includes more than 20 big block C2 Corvettes, a 1970 Chevelle SS with an LS6 engine, a 1969 Camaro Z/28 with a cross ram DZ302, and many more interesting vehicles!

“This is a driver’s garage,” Wade explains. “No trailer queens. He’s gonna have a mechanic and detail guy to keep them running so he can drive and enjoy these cars the way they’re meant to be.”

Kawasaki, in case you’re not aware, is president and chief executive officer of Legendary Companies, formerly Coker Group. He oversees Legendary’s 14 brands and six operating companies, including Coker Tire, Universal Vintage Tire Co., Phoenix Race Tires, Wheel Vintiques, Roadster Wire Wheels, MOR – Münchner Oldtimer Reifen and The Great Race.

You know you’re in for a treat when the very first vehicle discussed in the video is a 2019 Arctic White Corvette ZR1. Rick explains that he gave up a 2020 Stingray because he believes in the long run, the ZR1 will be the best investment. He’s only driven the ZR1 some 300 miles because he’s been busy building a new house for the past year but says that odometer should be changing in the coming months.

That’s just the first of so many nice Corvettes he kept, including row after row of 1967 427s “stacked up like cordwood,” as Wade put it.

Rick says he’s trying to collect a big block in every color, and while he hasn’t achieved that goal yet, he doesn’t intend to quit trying.

He points out a blue ’67 with white stinger hood as one of his favorites. “Some cars, they’re just right,” he says. “They feel like they did back in the day after they’re restored. That’s one of ‘em. I can’t make myself part with it.”

He also couldn’t part with a black ’66 Corvette, the first car he ever restored and then showed all over the Southeast for 10 years before driving it for another decade. “It still looks about as good as the day we did it.”

Another sentimental favorite is the only ’55 Chevy coupe remaining in his collection, as he points out a ‘55 was his first car and “whenever I go back to a hot rod, it’s always a ’55 Chevy.”

Other interesting vehicles include a purple Blazer turned into a short pickup, a 1912 Durand (a predecessor to Chevrolet), a ’61 Pontiac Ventura, a ’39 Chevy hot rod, a first-year 1935 Suburban, the last L88 Corvette made (a ’69), and a 1935 Cadillac restomod.

“I have a toy or two,” Rick jokes.

Those toys also include vintage ZR1 motors from the C4 era, and he believes they’ll be worth some money in the future when restoration of the 1990-95 ZR1s begins in earnest someday.

While the museum became a victim of COVID, Rick’s love of collector cars isn’t going anywhere. In fact, while he says there “probably” won’t ever be a museum again, he is planning to build two or three hot rods a year for sale at auction.

  • [VIDEO] Track Attack Canada Compares the C8 Corvette vs Lamborghini Huracan 580-2

[VIDEO] Track Attack Canada Compares the C8 Corvette vs Lamborghini Huracan 580-2

By now, seemingly everyone on Planet Earth knows how great the new 2020 Corvette Stingray is.

But is Chevy’s hot new mid-engine ‘Vette a true supercar?

Colin Caissie of Track Attack Canada recently set out to find out for himself when he pitted the all-new C8 against a 2016 Lamborghini 580-2 in a variety of tests.

Despite giving up about 100 horsepower to the V10 Lambo and at a third of the cost (the Lambo cost $240,000), the Corvette was able to emerge as the winner in several portions of the competition and kept it close in the losses.

For example, in the Timed Auto Slalom Run, the Corvette won with a time of 41.35 versus the 41.56 of the Huracan.

The Lamborghini rebounded to win the Standing Quarter Mile and the Roll Race, though the difference was tight in both cases.

To conclude the competition, the Corvette rallied to record the best Timed Hot Lap at 1:16.9, nearly a second faster than the Huracan’s 1:17.8.

“I’m pretty excited – that’s pretty cool,” said Matt Stokes, GM Canada Marketing Segment Manager, who attended a showing of the videos recapping the competition. “That’s a big car to take down, and for this to be the first model year and technically the base model of the C8 – to be competing at a level like that, and not only compete but taking down a Lamborghini, it shows how truly impressive this car is.”

Caissie, who drove the cars during the competition, agreed.

“This is a very, very impressive sports car,” he said of the Stingray, which was equipped with the Z51 performance package.

“In the Lamborghini’s defense, though, the brakes did start to die not even two laps into my hot laps, so the data we recorded (earlier) did show the Lambo was quite a bit quicker than the Corvette,” he added. “But unfortunately with them dying so quickly, you can’t pull time out if you can’t use the brakes.”

That being said, however, Caissie admitted that the overall outcome was a testament to the Corvette.

“We did quite a few hot laps with the Corvette,” he said. “We drove around all day filming, and you know what, this thing was a champ. Not at any point throughout the day did it show any signs of wear and tear, brake fading, like nothing. The car held up to everything we put it through and just smiled the whole while doing it and obviously put down an impressive time as well.”

Still, Caissie says he’s not “super convinced” that the new Corvette is really a supercar, though he conceded as a performance sports car, “this thing is King of the Hill. I’m convinced bang for the buck, this thing is the way to go.”

Overall, he believes the Z51 is “pretty much the ultimate sports car on Planet Earth right now. For what you pay and what you get, there simply is not a better value.”

Perhaps Caissie is reluctant to raise the entry-level model of the Corvette to such lofty status.

“In my opinion, this is not a true supercar … not yet,” he said.

Like so many of us, he remains curious to see what the Z06 and other higher-performance models will be like, and they “might change my mind,” he concedes.

  • [VIDEO] Corvette Assembly Plant Running Ahead of Target Production Schedule

[VIDEO] Corvette Assembly Plant Running One Week Ahead of Target Production

Our friend Morgan Crosbie who is a Chevy sales rep at Ontario’s Finch Chevrolet has a new video up on his Cars and Crosbie YouTube Channel today and while the main thrust is to offer a comparison of the 2020 Corvette 1LT vs his personal loaded 3LT Z51 Coupe. But before he gets into that, he offers some much welcome updates on the production of his customer cars at the Corvette Assembly Plant.

Morgan tells is that the 1LT Coupe behind him is VIN 3963 and it was produced some two weeks ago. With the quality control holds shortened now, Morgan says he is happy to see many of the details have been fine-tuned and that they are ironing out some of the kinks as had been reported previously.

He is also very excited as his customer cars that had a Target Production Week (TPW) of July 13 have already been produced, which means that the Assembly Plant is running a a week ahead of schedule in terms of producing the vehicles they determined were going to be produced at a later date. As a representative of Chevrolet, he is happy to be able to report to his customers that their cars were already built.

From there, Morgan offers a walk-around of the 1LT car which he calls a “stylish cruiser” as it doesn’t have the Z51 option. In fact, the Arctic White Stingray has just two options, the Sterling Silver Trident wheels and the NPP Performance exhaust. He also calls the Arctic White a “value” color as there is no upcharge for the paint.

Morgan also points out the fact that the non-Z51 cars come with the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires which he says will be more durable and should last longer than the Pilot Sport 4S summer tires found on the Z51 models.

The Chevy sales rep is also quick to point out that for customers who do get the base model, you are no way making any a sacrifices that are too monumental for you to think that its a different vehicle from the upper-level trim and performance models that are being tested by the auto magazines and tv shows. During his walk-around, he points out many of the value details that don’t detract from the Corvette ownership experience.

As always, Morgan offers a solid review so check out the full video if you are looking to build you own “value cruiser.”

From Cars and Crosbie via YouTube:

In this episode I show you the value that you get in a base model Corvette and why it is important to have a corvette specialist to help you design and order your Corvette.
